The Thompson River, located in Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada, has two
main branches; the south and the north Thompson river. Crossed by forty
bridges, the river is surrounded by a lot of parks. It is an important fishing
and boating place, it also has great fishing holes. This beautiful place is quite
eye catching, as her biodiversity.
Ecology
The largest tributary of the Fraser river should be proud of having more than
twenty-four fish species swimming in his water. You’ll probably hear a lot of
birds, because more than three hundred species live in the region. The four
hundred and eighty nine kilometers long river is known for his powerful rapids and deep canyons. That is why a lot of tourists come to do whitewater rafting and canoe.
History
A long time ago, the river was covered of ice, which moved out and migration began soon after. It was later named by Simon Fraser in honor of his friend David Thompson. Both of them were explorers. David never really saw the river. People came there for fur trade and gold. A lot of them were farming on the fertile benches of the river.

Simon Fraser was a fur trader and explorer who built the first European settlement in BC. He had nine children. David Thompson was called “The greatest land geographer who ever lived” and also “Canada’s greatest geographer”. He had thirteen children.
